Bindery Estimating

The Bindery version of DHA Estimating deals specifically with bindery operations. General format and features are the same as the standard estimating program, but the input questions and machine price tables are specific for bindery hand and machine operations. Nothing about Ink or other printer specifics to get in your way.

The Quote Letter is designed for bindery only operations.

Integrates with all other DHA modules to form a complete system for trade bindery companies, or can run as a stand alone module.

Job categories: Flat sheets, Booklets, Multi-part forms, Cards, Envelopes, Tab Dividers, Single or multiple items, Single or multi parts. You can add a part to any estimate anytime.

Automatic price table calculation

Here are the main operations and machines. All prices are stored in tables that are already setup and ready to use. Just change the prices to reflect your costs. You can easily add operations to existing tables or create new tables of your own.

Cutting & Folding

Cutting - 4 separate cutter price tables for different size sheets, cutting 1 to 9 out plus additional pieces out. Pricing based on cost per lift. You define lift sizes. Stock caliper determines lift count.

3 knife cutting for books.

Folding Sigs - 4, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32, cover, bind-in

Folding Sheets - Brochures, letter fold, gate fold, plus any combination of setups (fold, perf, score) and folds, right angles. 

Finishing

All finishing operations have an option to make or buy. Make operations and dies use Simple, Average, Difficult, Xdifficult (SADX) pricing. More detailed die pricing in the Finishing or Combo version.

Pocket Folder Calculations - pockets, panels, and flaps by size.

DieCut - Die, makeready, run. SADX

Foil Stamp - Die, makeready, run SADX. Foil (roll width and pull to calculate square inches)

Emboss - Die, makeready, run SADX.

Number - Makeready and run SADX.

Glue - Pockets, flaps, fugitive, remoistenable stripe, spot glue.

Coating - Laminate, aqueous, varnish, Markote (all make or buy).

Tabs Dividers - Die Cut, mylar tabs, mylar reinforce spine.

Collating

Machine Collating - Setup per pocket. Run per 1000 (8-1/2 x 11, 11 x 17, or NCR). Multiple collators. Hand Marry per set.

Hand Collating. Setup and running cost per 1000 pieces.

Hand Work.

Hand Fold, Insert Tabs, Insert Sigs, Banding, Sealing Mailers, Remove Staples, Insert sets in binder, Round Corner. Hand staple. Hand saddle stitch.

Perf/Score Machine. Simple, average, difficult, Xtradifficult Makeready and Run. Run based on inches per hour.

Drill - Drill setup and run 1 - 9 holes per lift. Lift size is user defined. Lift count is determined by sheet caliper or book thickness. 

Binding

Program calculates book thickness based on caliper of cover and inside stock.

Saddle Stitch - Setup and run for any number of pockets.

Perfect Bind - Setup and run for any number of pockets.

MultiBinder - Setup and run for any number of pockets.

GBC - Setup, punch per lift (average, difficult). Run 1/4 - 1/2, 1/2 - 3/4, 3/4 to 1, and 1 - 1-1/2. Spirals unlimited sizes and colors per 1000. Size selected by book thickness + 1/8" for air space.

Coilbind - Setup, Punch and bind. Book size from 6mm to 20mm.

Wiro Bind - Setup and run for books 1/4 to 1 inch.

Wire Spiral - Setup, Punch and bind book thickness from 1/4" to 1-1/8. Wire cost based on book size.

Packing & Shipping

Wrap - Wrap, band, tie, Kraft, shrink, business card box, all small, medium, large, xlarge.

Pack - Carton (by weight or pieces), skid, kit

Deliver - By zone (1-9)

Ship - Ship how and payment options (prepaid, COD).

Addressing & Mailing

Computer List Processing - sorting, merge purge, etc

Addressing - InkJet, Cheshire, Hand Labels

Inserting - You setup machines pockets and difficulty

Sort Tie Bag / Tray  / Deliver to Post Office

Stock

Paper master lets you define problem stocks. Tracks weight and finish for each part to calculate book thickness and package weight.
